Broad Jump Drills to Enhance Explosiveness
With the college football season over and the bowl season just around the corner, we start to transition into working with our clients preparing for the NFL draft. One of the drills measured at the NFL combine and pro days is the standing broad jump. This is an excellent test of linear explosiveness. If you are an excellent leaper, there’s a good chance you will also be an explosive athlete on the field. Here are a couple exercises we use with our athletes who have mastered the standing broad jump technique and have progressed to using our specialized equipment. Good luck with your preparation! Remember when you are doing these exercises to keep the reps low to insure maximum results. These drills are very taxing on the central nervous system. We generally do 2-3 reps maximum and will increase the number of sets when we feel the athlete is ready for an increased work load.
