Next (What Are You Waiting For)

Next (What Are You Waiting For)

In all my years of coaching I have heard the word “Next” used by plenty of athletes, students, and parents.  People are waiting for the right time, right place, or right opportunity to begin living their dreams.  Waiting for the ideal situation.  Meanwhile, someone else is out there seeking to achieve the same goals.  The difference between the people who are reaching their goals and those who are falling short is their urgency.  They aren’t waiting, they are doing.  They are making it the right time to make things happen, not waiting for the right time.  Below are some of the things I have heard people say who weren’t achievers.

  • I will next week
  • I will next practice
  • I will next test
  • I will next workout
  • I will next season
  • I will next month
  • I will next opportunity

If you are one of the people who will, when you get the “Next” opportunity, be prepared to hear your coach, teacher, employer, or college recruiter say “Next” man up.  There is always a next in line to replace someone.  Make sure you are preparing yourself daily to either be ready “Now” or to be prepared, when you might be the “Next” man up.
